Leno Louis Andreatta

Leno Louis Andreatta, 94, of Uhrichsville, passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at Schoenbrunn Healthcare Center in New Philadelphia, following a brief illness. Born in Uhrichsville on September 7, 1917, he was a son of the late Corrado Domenico “Andy” and Emma (Zandron) Andreatta. Leno graduated from Uhrichsville High School in the class of 1934. Leno was drafted into the U.S. Army in March of 1941. He fought with the 16th Infantry Regiment of the 1st Infantry Division throughout World War II. He participated in the landings of North Africa, Sicily and Omaha Beach on D-Day. He fought with the division through France, the Battle of the Bulge, Germany and Czechoslovakia at the war's end.

Before and after the war he worked over forty years for the Evans Pipe Company and as plant superintendent for Superior Clay Corporation from which he retired. He was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison and the Society of the First Division.

On October 28, 1946, Leno married Grace Irene Kerschbaumer and together they enjoyed nearly 65 years of marriage until her death on May 27, 2011. His surviving family includes, two sons; David (Patty) Andreatta of New Philadelphia and Dr. Dale Andreatta of Columbus, Ohio; two grandsons, Dr. Brock Andreatta of Chicago, Illinois and Dr. Drew Andreatta of Lawrenceville, New Jersey; sister, Erma Overholt; two brothers, Fred (Margaret) Andreatta and Gene (Miriam) Andreatta; sister-in-law, Iris Kerschbaumer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Leno is preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Anna and Don Boles; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gene Overholt, Louis Kerschbaumer, Fred and Mary Kerschbaumer, Joseph and Della Anzivino, Flora Kerschbaumer, and Herman and Lillian DeMattio.

Services for Leno, officiated by Father Jeffrey Coning, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 1, 2012, in Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery in New Philadelphia. Family and friends are invited to call at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home for visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 31, 2012. Those wishing to honor Leno's memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Immaculate Conception Church. Leno’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Schoenbrunn Healthcare for the excellent care they provided to him during his stay there.
