Lawrence R. Varner, 63, of Dennison, O., passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at Beacon Pointe Rehabilitation Center in Uhrichsville, O., following a lengthy illness. He was born November 5, 1945 in Tennessee.

A lifelong resident of Tuscarawas County, Lawrence retired from the City of New Philadelphia’s Waste Management Department.

On June 23, 1967, he married the former Mary Louise Tedrick who survives him. He is also survived by two daughters, Jenny and Margaret Varner of Columbus, O.; sisters-in-law, Rebecca Polen of Dover and Patricia Emig of New Philadelphia; brothers-in-law, Robert Nathan Tedrick of Arizona and James T. Tedrick of Columbus; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, including a special niece, Barb Camp of Uhrichsville.

A loving husband, uncle and great uncle, Lawrence was a warm and friendly person who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Lawrence was preceded in death by a nephew, Kenneth Watkins.

In keeping with his own wishes, Lawrence will be cremated without a public visitation. A private, family memorial service will be held in Beacon Pointe Rehabilitation Center’s family lounge at a later date.

Those wishing to honor his memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the American Diabetes Association.
