Larry Russell Ohler, 73, of Barnhill passed away on February 25, 2016 following a lengthy illness. Born September 17, 1942 he was a son of the late Virgil E., Jr. and Mary Elizabeth (Smitley) Ohler.
Larry attended Midvale School before proudly serving his country in the United States Army. He worked for the coal mines and also had been a firefighter. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and his CB radio. He was part of Midvale Volunteer Fire Department and had been the Marshall of Barnhill.
On February 10, Larry celebrated 52 years or marriage to Patricia Lou (Ferguson) who survives him of the home. Also surviving are his sons, Larry, Jr., James (Kristi), Richard (Pam), and Michael (Amy) Ohler; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sisters, Marilyn (Denny) Knepper, Bernice (Dwight) Zimmerman, and JoAnn (Robert) Nelson. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by siblings, Virgil Coleman Ohler, Dorothy Barkheimer, Carolyn Kieffer, and Audrey Ferguson.
Services for Larry, officiated by Pastor Fred Battles, will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in New Philadelphia’s East Avenue Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12-1 p.m. on Monday.
