At 3:45 p.m. on March 10, 2016, at Community Hospice in New Philadelphia, Kyle P. Jarvis, Jr., of Tuscarawas, went to be with the Lord with his wife and children by his bedside. Born February 18, 1936 in Dennison, he was a son of the late Kyle Peter Jarvis, Sr. and Alice Marie (Wharton) Jarvis.
Kyle was a 1954 graduate of Gnadenhutten High School. Throughout his lifelong career as an automotive technician, he obtained many certifications. In 1961, he went to Greer Training Shop in Chicago for training in automatic transmissions, earned membership in Pontiac Service Craftsman’s Guild in 1981, and was a certified General Motors Technician in 1988. He retired from Nicholson’s and had also worked at Mart Sands Pontiac and Ferris Chevrolet. He was a member of the Uhrichsville Eagles. Kyle was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who cherished his family dearly.
On November 6, 1955, he married the former Beverly Garbrandt who survives him. He is also survived by four children, Kyle P. Jarvis, III, Brenda (Bill) Retterer, Keith (Beth) Jarvis, and Becky (Jeff) Schrock; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; brothers, Russel and Richard (Ruth) Jarvis; sister, Edna Mae Swoll; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Eric Jarvis; sister, Roberta Lucille Hunt; brother, Robert Jarvis; and two infant sisters.
Pastor John Stevenson will officiate a private family service followed by burial in Gnadenhutten-Clay Union Cemetery. A celebration of his life will be held at 1pm on Saturday, March 19, in Bethel Worship in Uhrichsville with a reception following. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice.
