Kenneth Eugene “Gerb” Gerber, Jr., 57, of New Philadelphia, O., passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at his home.
Born November 16, 1951 in Frederick, Md., he was a son of the late Kenneth E. Gerber, Sr. and Martha Lou Gerber.
Ken was a resident of Tuscarawas county for much of his life and was a member of the Uhrichsville Moose. He enjoyed bowling with a variety of leagues and was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He was a truckdriver for a variety of local companies and had also worked in oilfields for a number of years.
His surviving family includes a son, Barry Gerber and his wife, Sandra, of Denham Springs, La.; four daughters, Nikki Milburn and her husband, Troy, of Dennison, Kendra Gerber and her fiancé, Thomas Burkhart, of Dover, Barbara Cunningham and her husband, Larry, of Newcomerstown, and Rachelle Conner and her husband, Christopher, of New Philadelphia; the mother of his children, Julie L. (Saylor) Gerber of Newcomerstown; and six grandchildren, Barry Gerber II, Jeremy Reed, Rylan Rectanus, Brady Milburn, Kail Poole and Madison Cunningham.
Ken is also survived by a sister, Diane Hill and her husband, Henry, of Coshocton, three half sisters, a half brother, two step sisters and two step brothers.
He will be remembered as a loving father, “Grandpa Gerb” and brother, and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to call at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 23. In keeping with his wishes, Ken will be cremated and then interred with his parents at West Union Cemetery near Gilmore. Memorial contributions may be made to his family in care of the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison.
