Kenneth " Butch" E. Allen, Sr.

Kenneth Eugene “Butch” Allen, Sr., 69, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Canton of complications from surgery. Born October 8, 1946 in Washington, D.C., he was a son of the late Kenneth Owen Allen and Agnes Letterman.

After his graduation from high school, Butch joined the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country for 21 years, earning many decorations including the Vietnam Service Medal with 2 bronze stars. In his retirement, he worked at L.J. Smith in Bowerston for a number of years. Butch was an avid golfer, enjoyed building radio-controlled model airplanes and ships, and loved video games.

On July 7, 1970, he married Jo Ann Kelly with whom he celebrated 45 years of loving marriage this summer. He is also survived by their children, Kenneth “Gene” (companion, Jody Mitchell) Allen, Jr., Kendra (Chad) Poland, and Kerri (Heath) Drescher; grandchildren, Kamerie (companion, Josh Wright) Allen, Kimberly Simmerman, Joseph Simmerman, Brooklyn Poland, Kyle Contini and Zac Contini; step-grandchildren, Chass and Tessa Mitchell; and a great-granddaughter, Kezdyn Allenwright.

In keeping with Butch’s wishes, he has been cremated without a public visitation. A private family service is planned. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
