Kenneth E. Barr

Kenneth E. Barr, 71, of Uhrichsville, Ohio, passed away on Friday, September 7, 2012 at Aultman Hospital in Canton, Ohio, following a brief illness. Born May 26, 1941 in Dennison, Ohio, he was a son of the late Joseph Benjamin and Ruth (Naylor) Barr.

Kenny was a lifelong resident of the Twin City area and a twenty-seven year employee of Simonds Industry. He was a member of New Philadelphia First Baptist Church where he was active in the Bus Ministry, Children’s Ministry and Good Shepherd Ministry, served as an usher, and was also a member of the Joy Group. He loved to fish, play cards and watch TV when he had the time. He will be remembered for his head strong attitude and ornery sense of humor which could bring a smile to anyone’s face.

On November 7, 1960, Kenny married the love of his life, Linda Lou Diane (Howard) Barr and joyfully celebrated fifty years of wedded bliss with her in 2010. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Rex (Jody) Barr of Riverside, Rick Barr of New Philadelphia and Joey (Tammy) Barr of Uhrichsville; grandchildren, Kirt (Sara) Barr of Strasburg, Ashley (Danny) Vidrine of Okinawa, Japan, Katie (Rodney) Stevens of Dennison, Shannon (Drew) Anthony of Uhrichsville and Tommie Barr of Uhrichsville; great-grandchildren, Max, Zayden, Carter, Kadence, Scotty, Elliott and Micah with another expected; sisters, Edna (Al) Maples of Tennessee and Bessie Duskin of Colorado; sister-in-law, Juanita Barr of Uhrichsville; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Timmy Barr, and a brother, Bill Barr.

Services for Kenny, officiated by Pastor Rich VanArsdalen, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 12, in New Philadelphia First Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens in Dover. Family and friends are invited to call at the church from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Those wishing to honor Kenny’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to New Philadelphia First Baptist Church’s Missions Fund and the American Cancer Society.
