Kathy L. (Sheets) Mccray

Kathy Lynne (Sheets) McCray, 58, of New Philadelphia, O., passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at Hennis Care Center in Dover, O., following a lengthy illness.

Born April 20, 1952 in Dennison, O., she was a daughter of Ruth Elizabeth (Palmer) Sheets of Dover and the late William Alvin Sheets.

A local resident for most of her life, Kathy was a graduate of Conotton Valley High School in the class of 1970. Until her health prevented her, she had worked as a waitress and banquet manager for several area restaurants, including the L & K Restaurant in Uhrichsville and Kate’s Breakfast Room which she owned and operated in the former Delphian Inn. She was a member of Faith Christian Church in New Philadelhpia.

Kathy’s surviving family includes her mother, Ruth Elizabeth (Palmer) Sheets of Dover; two sisters, Beverly Sprowls of Sunbury, O. and Janet Davis and her husband, Leo, of Coshocton; two nieces, Sarah Musser and Amy Sheets, both of Pennsylvania; two nephews, Rich Sprowls of Columbus and Greg Sprowls and his wife, June, of Westerville; three grand nephews, Todd and Christopher Sprowls and Kaiden Musser; and a special friend, Dan Grill of New Philadelphia.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Sheets.

According to Kathy’s wishes, she has been cremated without a public visitation. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held on Friday, July 23, 2010 at 6:30 pm in Hennis Care Centre at Dover. She will be interred with her father at Leesville Cemetery. Those wishing to honor her memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the charity of their choice.
