Katherine Ann White, 93, of Newcomerstown, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026, while surrounded by her loving family at Ohio’s Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia, Ohio. Born December 27, 1932 in Barnhill, Ohio, she was the last surviving child of the late Elmer Elsworth “Duge” and Emma Catherine (née Seibert) Ohler – having been preceded in death by her brothers, Charles and Pete Ohler.
On December 26, 1951, Katherine was wed to Donald Leroy White, taking the first step on her life’s journey as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and homemaker. She leaves her family with a treasure trove of memories of her delicious cooking – including her homemade noodles and butterscotch pies. She was also a skilled seamstress and was quite masterful at doing crafts. Katherine loved to crochet and, in later years, enjoyed watching WWE.
Katherine and Donald shared nearly 54 years of loving marriage before Donald’s passing on November 25, 2005 and were blessed with five children, Deborah (Patrick) Fitzgerald, Penny Malterer, Terry (Melinda) White, Todd White, and Thad White; ten grandchildren, Aaron Fitzgerald, Daniel (Jess) Fitzgerald, David Fitzgerald, Sharon (Joshua) Harp, Terry White Jr., Karen (Jim) Konkle, Logan (Michelle) VanFossen, Courtney (Michael) VanFossen, Sarah (Ken) Tignor, and Ian (Jocy) Malterer; numerous great-grandchildren; an expected great-great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews; and dear friends, Carol and Joe Haynes. In addition to her parents, husband, and brothers, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jeff Malterer, and a great-granddaughter.
Services, officiated by Pastor Dave Koch, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison where her family will receive callers from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., prior to the funeral. She will be interred in Deersville-Patterson Union Cemetery in Deersville beside her beloved husband. Those wishing to honor her memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Ohio’s Hospice Foundation, 716 Commercial Ave. S.W., New Philadelphia, OH 44663 and the Tuscarawas County Humane Society, 1432 Tall Timber Road N.E., New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
