Katherine J. Crall

Katherine J. Crall, 70, of New Philadelphia, O., passed away on Monday, April 27, 2009 at Trinity West Hospital in Steubenville, O., following a lengthy illness.

Born March 15, 1939 in Dennison, O., she was a daughter of the late Thomas Brower and Ethel (Arnold) Brower-Cottrell.

A lifelong resident of the area, Katherine was a graduate of Dennison High School in the Class of 1957 and attended Park Christian Church in Dennison.

On March 17, 1960, Katherine married George E. Crall with whom she enjoyed over thirty years of marriage until his passing in 1993. They are survived by three children, George Crall, Jr. and his wife, Tammy, of Bowerston, Matthew Crall and his wife, Sherri, of Sherrodsville, and Mary Dulkoski and her husband, Jeff, of Scio; and nine grandchildren, Meaghan, Vincent, Colt, Noah, Hallie, Dallas, Makinze, Huntter and Walker.

Katherine is survived by a brother, Bill Brower, of Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews, as well.

In addition to her parents and husband, Katherine was preceded in death by two brothers, Tom and Matthew “Moe” Brower, and a sister, Edith Tantarelli.

Katherine was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker who enjoyed making blankets as a pastime. She had also worked for the Scio Pottery for a number of years, and also had been employed by the Tappan Marina and had been active in the local Headstart’s “Foster Grandma” program.

Services for Katherine, officiated by Pastor Scot Caley, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 30, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Interment will follow at Greenmont Union Cemetery in Freeport, O.

Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Those wishing to honor Katherine’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the American Cancer Society.
