Karen Jeanne West

Karen Jeanne West, 66, of Bowerston, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at Aultman Hospital in Canton from an apparent heart attack. Born November 11, 1950 in Dennison, she was the daughter of the late Harold Eugene and Mary Ruth (Wright) Finnicum. Karen was a lifelong resident of the area and a 1968 graduate of Conotton Valley High School who had been employed by K-Mart in New Philadelphia from 1995 through 2002. She was Methodist by faith.

On July 26, 1968, Karen married Bernard L. “Bernie” West who survives her, along with their children, Ty (Krysta) West and Nicole (fiancé, Shane Wires) Jones, and granddaughter, Tori Elizabeth Jones. Karen is also survived by her brother, Joe (Teresa) Finnicum; sister-in-law, Loretta (Zook) Black; many nieces and nephews; and her dear friend Anna Mae Abel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Adrianna Jones, and her aunt, Sue Slack, to whom she was especially close.

In keeping with Karen’s wishes, she has been cremated without a public visitation and will be interred in Conotton Cemetery at a later date. Karen’s family wish to express their deep appreciation to the Bowerston and Scio Volunteer Emergency Squads, and the emergency room staff of Trinity Hospital Twin City and Aultman Hospital for the excellent care they provided. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Harrison County, Ohio.
