Karen Sue "Suzie" (West) Devore

Karen Sue “Suzie” (West) Devore, 68, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2013 at Community Hospice House in New Philadelphia after a lengthy illness. Born October 7, 1945 in Grandview, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Robert Chester Sayres and Kathleen Marie (Salsbury) West.

A lifelong resident of the area, Suzie was a retired nurses’ aide who had worked at several area nursing homes. She was a former member of the Uhrichsville Army-Navy Club who enjoyed antiquing and going to flea markets. She is survived by a son, Hank (Tonia) Devore, Jr. of Uhrichsville; a daughter, Shawna (companion, Robert Page) Kidd with whom she had resided; grandchildren, Josie Jones, Logan Devore, and Karissa, Chloe, Kathleen and Kyler Kidd; great-grandson, Gavin Jones; sister, Loretta (Randy) Black; brother, Bernie (Karen) West; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Denzil Bernard West who lovingly raised her, and a brother, Ronald West.

In keeping with Suzie’s wishes, she has been cremated without a public visitation. A graveside service, officiated by Rev. Clif Kilpatrick, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 16, in Tunnel Hill Cemetery near Bowerston.
