Karen L. Lehigh-Russell

Karen L. Lehigh-Russell, 56, of Tuscarawas, O., passed away on Monday, November 10, 2008 at Aultman Hospital in Canton, O., following a lengthy illness.

Born January 14, 1952 in Dennison, O., she was a daughter of Emma M. (Thompson) Lehigh of Tuscarawas and the late Lyle E. Lehigh. A lifelong resident of the area, Karen was a graduate of Indian Valley North High School in the class of 1970.

Karen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker who loved caring for her family. Her granddaughters, who called her “Mam-Maw”, were the joy of her life, and she treasured the time she spent with them. Karen also dearly loved her many cats that she had taken in.

Many people will remember her from her years as a clerk for the Twin City License Bureau, as well as from the time that she was employed by the former Stoll’s Grocery Store in Uhrichsville.

In addition to her father, Karen was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas D. Russell to whom she was married on July 23, 1986. He passed on February 12, 2002.

Her surviving family includes her mother, Emma M. Lehigh of Tuscarawas; a daughter, Tammy Harrison and her husband, Ted, of Port Washington; three granddaughters, Kali, Kassi and Kylee Harrison of Port Washington; two brothers, Brent Lehigh and his wife, Sara, of Wainwright and Bryan Lehigh and his wife, Jennifer, of Gnadenhutten; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles; and a host of dear friends and neighbors, including a very special friend, Marvin Bache of Canton and his caring family.

Services for Karen, officiated by Pastor Florence McNutt, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 13, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Interment will follow beside her late husband in St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery in Tuscarawas.

Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
