A constant pressure has now been released upon a true loving friend, mother, and wife. Mrs. June Hanks now walks through the gates of serenity into the hall of everlasting love. There are few that were as compassionate and friendly as June, who for the totality of her life was in the service of others. If a silly joke was heard, June could make that joke funnier, if the lyrics of a song were unheard, June would simply create her own, and if a partner in any board or card game was in need, June usually provided the victory. You see, this was the epitome of June Hanks; a true friend, a true person, a strong being and an honest companion. She worked and battled as her living capacity became restrained; yet, she continued! So, it is now that we will continue for June! That is how she would want it. For now, there is to be no pity or sorrow; only love and togetherness.
Born July 2, 1949, June was a daughter of the late George and Betty (Greenwalt) Spellman. June had been a member, bartender, and waitress at the Uhrichsville Eagles for many years. June attended high school at Uhrichsville and Frazeysburg.
June will be sadly missed by her husband, Rodney L. Hanks, whom she married December 12 1998; daughter, Bonnie and husband Steve Willis of Strasburg; son, Jerry Squires; daughter, Melissa Byers and companion Don of Millersburg; son, Shane and wife Melissa Squires of Uhrichsville; son, Rodney Hanks Jr. and companion Tiffany Cleek of Springfield; son, Kyle and wife Carrie Hanks of Leavenworth, KS; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Chuck and wife Vickie Spellman of New Philadelphia; sister, Wanda and husband Kelly Legg of New Philadelphia; and many other extended family and friends bid her God’s blessings.
June was preceded in death by her parents.
In keeping with her wishes, June will be cremated without any services or visitation.
“May you now smile upon the sunshine
May you breathe the sigh of relief
Forever our LOVE remains here
To console all mournings’ and grief”
God Bless Ya Momma June!
