Joyce Nedra Chaney, 88, a resident of Park Village of Dover, passed away on October 9, 2026, while under the care of Hospice after a period of declining health. Born September 3, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Grace Nedra (née Rucker) Chaney-Rothermund and the late Kenneth Fisher Chaney. She was also preceded in death by her son, Russell Allen Greenwood; her brother, John R. "Jack" Chaney; a grandson, James Alexander Allen; a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Keadle; and the children's father, the late Earl D. Greenwood.
Joyce's surviving family includes her sister, Sandra (Leo) Zorzi; two sons, Jeffery E. (companion, Tamara) Greenwood and David E. (Julie) Greenwood; three daughters, Vickie A. (Tim) Watson, Sandra K. (companion, Bubba) Greenwood, and Amy JoAnn Greenwood; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, as well as her former spouse, Harold Grove.
Joyce was a lifelong resident of Tuscarawas County. She graduated from Dennison High School in 1956 and attended the Dennison Church of God. After graduating, she married Earl D. Greenwood, and together they had six children. While raising her children, Joyce enjoyed life to the fullest. She worked at various nursing homes over the years, with Dover Park Village being her final workplace before retiring.
She cherished spending time with her friends, often taking her family on joint camping trips to Tappan Lake with their families. She especially loved gathering with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren during the holidays. Joyce always found a way to share her love—whether with her immediate family or her nursing home family. She will be dearly missed by many. God bless you, Mom!
According to Joyce's wishes, cremation is planned without a public visitation or service. Burial will take place in Dover’s Ridgecrest Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ohio’s Hospice Foundation, 716 Commercial Ave. S.W., New Philadelphia, OH 44663 and the Tuscarawas County Humane Society, 1432 Tall Timber Rd. N.E., New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
