Josephine "Josie" Sensius

May 25, 1951 — October 13, 2008

Josephine “Josie” Sensius, 57, of Uhrichsville, O., passed away in her home on Monday, October 13, 2008, after a year long battle with cancer. Josie was born in Vocklabruck, Austria on May 25, 1951, a daughter of Anna (Michels) Sensius and the late John Sensius.

As a very young child, Josie moved to the United States with her parents and has been a resident of the Twin City area for nearly all of her life. She was a graduate of Claymont High School in the class of 1969 and a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison.

Josie was an employee of Uhrichsville’s bank (originally the United Bank, now Chase Bank) for many years and had, most recently, been employed at Hydraulic Specialists in Midvale until her illness prevented her from working. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially going on shopping trips.

In addition to her mother, Josie is survived by a brother, Jay Sensius of Gnadenhutten; a nephew, Brian Sensius of Gnadenhutten; aunts and uncles, Katie Michels of Uhrichsville, George and Beverly Sensius of Akron and Joe and Teresa Sensius of Akron; many cousins; and her favorite feline companion, Reba.

Services for Josie, officiated by Father Martin J. Ralko, will be held on Thursday, October 16, at 10:00 a.m. in Dennison’s Immaculate Conception Church. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, during which time, a Christian Wake Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Those wishing to honor her memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, the American Cancer Society and Immaculate Conception Church’s Memorial Book Fund.
