Josephine M. "Josie" Shaw

Josephine Marie Shaw, 71, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2017, at Claymont Health and Rehabilitation in Uhrichsville. Born August 12, 1945 in Bucyrus, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Clyde and Viola (Taylor) Stewart. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, James Alan Shaw.

A 1963 graduate of Uhrichsville High School, Josie was a lifelong Twin City resident. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker who especially cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren, taking them camping and teaching them to swim. She also worked in the medical field for 10 years and was a member of the Christian Temple in Uhrichsville.

On July 12, 1963, Josie married James Lewis Shaw, Jr. with whom she enjoyed nearly 54 years of loving marriage. In addition to her husband, she is survived by their children, Tina (Michael) Dynes and Joshua Shaw; grandchildren, Lucas Shaw whom she raised like a son, Brian (Lindsey) Preston, Kyle (Kalee) Dynes and Ryder (Ariel) Dynes, all of whom she was proud to have seen serve in the U.S. military; and great-grandchildren, Koi and Kinley Preston, and Ivy, Rex and Alee Dynes. She is also survived by her sisters, Billie Fagley and Dorie Gubernath; mother-in-law, Mary Lou Shaw; and dear extended family including nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

In keeping with Josie’s wishes, she has been cremated without a public visitation. Her family will gather to honor her memory on a future date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
