Joseph Anthony Taralla, 76, of New Philadelphia, passed away at his home on Friday, January 8, 2021, following a long period of declining health. Born November 4, 1944 in Marion Co., West Virginia, he was a son of the late George Walter and Mary Ann (Volek) Taralla.

Joe grew up in the Rivesville, West Virginia area before moving to Tuscarawas County, 52 years ago. Locally, he was the owner and proprietor of J & J Auto. He loved painting cars and, in his spare time, enjoyed watching professional wrestling. He was an Elvis fan who loved hotdogs and his dog, Opie. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren.

On September 5, 1990, Joe married the former Frances Ann Britt who survives him at their home. He will also be deeply missed by his children, Joseph (Mary) Taralla, Mary (Pat) Calhoun, Tammy (Bill II) Ruegsegger, Conswella (Dan) Sears, Misty (Mike) Porco, and Tiea (Bryan) Bellinger; grandchildren, Tasha, Chancey, Josh, Joseph, David, Emily, Brittany, Damien, Bill, Dannielle, Louann, Taylor, Kaylee; several great grandchildren, sister, Rose “Babe” (Dave) Curtis; sister-in-law, Ardella Taralla; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank and John “Judge” Taralla.

Pastor Nick Abraham will officiate his funeral service at noon on Wednesday, January 13, in the Alpine Bible Church in Sugarcreek. Family and friends are invited to call at the church from 11:00 a.m. to noon on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice and the Parkinson’s Foundation.
