Joseph R. Phillips

Joseph Richard Phillips, 75, of Uhrichsville, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at Trinity Hospital Twin City in Dennison. Born August 1, 1940 in Warwick Twp., Tuscarawas Co., Ohio, he was a son of the late William Elmer Phillips and Helen Edna (Reichman) Phillips. A lifelong resident of the area, Joe worked in the local coal mining industry before retiring. He loved working on boats and was an avid fisherman and hunter.

Joe is survived by his children, Vicky (Marc) Holly and Larry (Becky) Phillips; grandchildren, Justin Holly, Alexis Holly and Brittney (Anthony) Frame; step-grandchildren, Ryan “Bosco” (Christine) Shear and Bobi (Eric) Kinsey; great-grandchildren, Chantzen and Jaxton Frame; 7 step-great-grandchildren; brother, John Phillips; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be noon to 2pm on Sunday, May 1, 2016, at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison, followed by a 2pm funeral service, officiated by Pastor Lyle Warren. Interment will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery near Tappan Lake. Memorial contributions may be made to Humane Society of Charles Co., 71 Industrial Park Dr., Waldorf, MD 20602.
