John William “Bill” Walters, 71, of Dennison, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Aultman Hospital in Canton. Born April 9, 1944 in Dennison, he was the son of the late Roy “Goose” and Betty I. (Stevens) Walters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Walters; sister, Virginia “Ginger” Starr; and infant brothers, Leroy and Frank Walters.
A lifelong resident of the Twin City area, Bill was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, having served 18 months in Vietnam and earning the Combat Infantryman’s Badge. He then had a career of over 20 years at Superior Clay in Uhrichsville. Bill loved to draw, enjoyed old movies, and was an avid fisherman. In his youth, he also enjoyed hiking and trapping.
Bill is survived by a son, Tony Michael; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Toni (Dennis Taylor) Miller, Renee (John) Johnson, Dottie (Jeff) Peters, Connie (Bill) Brown, and Lt. Col. (Ret.) Michael (Candy) Walters; and many nieces and nephews.
Services for Bill will be held at 1pm on Monday, August 31, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery with a military committal service. Visitation will be 11am to 1pm on Monday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
