John Edward Reeder

John Edward Reeder, 73, of Millersburg, formerly of the Cleveland area, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Scenic Pointe Rehabilitation Center in Millersburg after a lengthy period of declining health. Born November 8, 1939 in Seattle, Washington, he was a son of the late Rev. James Walter and Grace (Looper) Reeder.

A 1958 graduate of Lakewood High School, John furthered his education by earning his Bachelor’s Degree from The Ohio State University, as well as studying at the Cleveland Institute of Art in preparation for his career as a graphic artist. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1965.

John is survived by his sister, Mary Shimko and her husband, Andrew, of Brunswick Hills, Ohio; a nephew, Andrew Shimko, Jr. and his wife, Ellen, of Montville Twp., Ohio; a niece, Laura Shimko of Toledo; and great-nieces and great-nephews, Alyssa, Tyler, Anne-Marie, Erik and William. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James W. Reeder, Jr.

According to John’s wishes, he will be interred beside his beloved parents and brother in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery without a public visitation or service. Those wishing to honor his memory by a charitable contribution may do so to the charity of their choice.
