John Dale Meechan

John Dale Meechan, 54, of Dennison, O., passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at Union Hospital in Dover, O., following a brief illness.

Born January 15, 1954 in Dennison, he was a son of the late Luke D. and Alice Bernice (Pica) Meechan.

John was a lifelong resident of the Twin City area who was Catholic by faith, having been a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison where he attended Immaculate Conception Elementary in his youth.

John served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed farming, fishing and hunting. Most of all, he loved riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and spending time with his family and friends.

His surviving family includes two sons, Jayde D Meechan and his companion, Jessie Piccin, and Lason “Drew” Mercer of Dennison; a daughter, Lindsay N. Meechan of Dennison; grandchildren, Kaedin Presutti, Jillian Meechan, Neco Presutti and Jaydon Shearn; a brother, Thomas D. Meechan and his wife, Bobbie, of Applecreek; several nieces and nephews including Quinn Meechan of New Philadelphia and Colrain Zuppo of Columbus; the extended Henry family; and close, longtime friends, D. B. Piccin and Cory Cox of Dennison, Marty “Red” of Mineral City.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by two brothers, Danny L. and Luke P. Meechan, and a sister, Marline Meechan.

Services for John, officiated by Father Martin J. Ralko, will be held on Friday, Dec. 19, at 1:00 p.m. in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. A gathering in celebration of John’s life will be held in the basement of the Uhrichsville Eagles immediately following the funeral service. Interment will be in Western Reserve National Cemetery at Rittman, O. on Monday, December 22, at 2:30 p.m., with a military committal service.

Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to John’s family in care of the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home to help defray the cost of his final expenses.
