John P. Fitak

John P. Fitak, 69, of Dennison, passed away at the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center near Cleveland on Friday, February 14, 2014, after a lengthy illness with PAN Vasculitis. Born May 21, 1944 in Mitchell, South Dakota, he was a son of the late John P. Fitak, Jr. and Inez Lodemma (Harvey) Fitak.

After his graduation from Latcher High School in 1962, John proudly served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War followed by over 20 years in the National Guard. A resident of the Twin City area for much of his adult life, he worked for a number of area claypipe companies over the years. John had a gift for fixing things and especially enjoyed antique clock repair.

John is survived by his longtime companion, Pat Coffy of the home; three daughters, Rosetta Lynn Schiele of Uhrichsville, Barbara Ann (companion, John Marshall) Fitak of Newcomerstown and Erica Lynn (Steve) Haney of Tippecanoe; 7 grandchildren, Bryan, Anthony, Nathan and Daniel Fitak, Katherine and Kurtis Haney, and Christopher Godsey; a sister, Maryann (Duane) Hansen of Mitchell, S.D.; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Ann Fitak of California.

Services for John, officiated by Pastor Milo Baker, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 18, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Feed Spring Church and the ASPCA.
