John Famal

John G. Famal, 72, of Uhrichsville, O., passed away at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, November 11, 2010 after a period of declining health.

Born April 21, 1938 in Uhrichsville, he was a son of the late Gus and Zoie (Mourouzis) Famal.

John was a lifelong resident of Uhrichsville and a graduate of Uhrichsville High School in the class of 1957. He worked for several local clay plants until his retirement from Superior Clay in 2008. John was a loving family man who enjoyed spending time with his family, as well as attending Claymont football games and car shows.

On November 5, 1961, he married the former Linda K. Orr who survives him along with their three children, William Gus Famal and his fiancee, Tammy Lollis, Despo McMath and her husband, Dean, and Amy Slutz and her husband, Troy; six grandchildren, Jarrid Famal and his fiancee, Deseree Rolic, Devon Famal, Alexis and Andrew McMath, and Zoie and Zane Slutz; and a great granddaughter, Adriona Famal.

John is survived by a brother, Harry Famal and his wife, JoAnn,; aunts and uncles, Alexis and Wayne Reese, George and Barbara Mourouzis, and Nick and Marilyn Mourouzis; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Ben and Helen Haney, Chester and Barb Orr, Edward and Sherry Orr, Bud and Patricia Jones, Shirley Orr and Samuel Kopp; special friends, Tim and Shirley Murphy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters-in-law, Janice Keith and Shirley Kopp, and two brothers-in-law, Joseph Orr and Ben Keith.

Services for John, officiated by Pastor Florence McNutt, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 15, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Interment will follow in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery.

Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday. Those wishing to honor John’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Community Hospice and Uhrichsville Foursquare Gospel Church.
