John Timothy Collins, 59, of Dennison, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at Ohio State University East Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, after a lengthy illness. Born November 3, 1961 in Dennison, he was a son of the late Robert Thomas and Marjorie Irene (Bache) Collins.
A resident of Tuscarawas County for most of his life, John was a 1980 graduate of Claymont High School. He was employed as a meat cutter by Big Bear Stores from 1980 until their closing in 2003, after which he was a driver for Berner Trucking until his decline in health. He was a member of the Eleventh Street Church of God in Uhrichsville, as well as F. & A. M. Mystic Tie Lodge. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and will be remembered for his robust sense of humor. He loved jokes, telling stories that might turn into tall tales, and pulling off good natured pranks.
On November 22, 1980, John married the former Lori L. Speelman who survives him, along with their son, Travis (Christina) Collins; daughter, Brittany (Graham) Burns; grandchildren, Ethan and Elliott Collins and Madelyn and Chloe Burns who loved their “Papa John” very much; brother, Charles W. Collins; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Collins.
Family and friends are invited to call from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 5, at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. In the interest of public health, all who attended are required to wear masks and maintain social distancing. Due to limited capacity seating for Covid protocols, Pastor Earl Miller will officiate a private, family funeral service before John’s interment in Roxford Church Cemetery near Dennison. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Fund and the Eleventh Street Church of God.
