John F. Carpenter, 55, of Carrollton, O., formerly of Alabama and Florida for much of his life, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at his residence following an illness of several months.
Born September 21, 1953 in Dennison, O., he was a son of the late Harry Frank and Betty Eileen (Nelson) Carpenter.
A mechanic by trade, John was the owner and operator of Mobile Auto and Truck in Mobile, Alabama. He loved building cars and engines and was an avid fan of drag racing.
John’s surviving family includes three sisters, Sandra L. Egler of Carrollton, Karen S. Maple of Newcomerstown and Bonnie L. Harper of Lake City, Fla.; two brothers, Kenneth D. Carpenter and Richard A. Carpenter, both of Newcomerstown; and numerous nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Danny Egler of Carrollton.
According to John’s request, he has been cremated and will be buried with his parents in Gnadenhutten-Clay Union Cemetery. Those wishing to honor his memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the American Cancer Society.
