August 29, 1937 — September 11, 2012

John Raymond Brick, Sr., 75, of Uhrichsville, Ohio, passed away suddenly at his home on Tuesday, September 11, 2012. Born August 29, 1937 in Lock Seventeen, Ohio, he was a son of the late John F. and Gladys L. (Crews) Brick.

After attending Gnadenhutten High School, John enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country from 1955 to 1957. Upon returning home, he began his lifelong career as a long distance truck driver. Over his forty-two years of driving, mostly for Reese Trucking, he logged over three million miles without a chargeable accident. In retirement, he drove a school bus for Claymont Public Schools for six years and cooked for the West Chester Senior Center and Tuscarawas V.F.W. for a time, as well. He was a member of the Teamsters Retirees Club Local 92 and looked forward to his daily breakfasts out at a variety of area restaurants with his retired friends. He enjoyed relaxing while watching television in his spare time. The times that he treasured most were spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the light of his life. John was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison.

On July 19, 1958, John married the former Carol R. Kopp with whom he has enjoyed over fifty-four years of marriage. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, John R. (Libby) Brick, Jr. of Dennison, Robert (Dr. Wendy Gram-Brick) Brick of Charlotte, North Carolina and Steven (Michele) Brick of Dennison; three daughters, Rhonda (Michael) Taylor of Dennison and Florence (Rob) Linard and Loretta (Jeff) Galbreath of Uhrichsville; grandsons, Josh Taylor, Nathan Linard, Jensen Linard and Drew Brick; granddaughters, Amanda (John) McDonald, Nicole Kadri, Kaitlain Brick, Chelsea Galbreath, Mallory Galbreath and Alexa Brick; great-grandsons, Bailey Gavorcik, Hayden Jackson and Spencer McDonald; great-granddaughters, Izabella McDonald and Allyson Kadri; step-grandson, Brent (Stacy), Luke, Nathan (Nacole) and Heath Moreland; step-great-granddaughter, Vanessa Moreland; step-great-grandsons, Trevor, Travis and Trenton McDonald and Brody, Drew, Gavin and Evan Moreland; sisters, Jane Mardis, Janet (Russell) McDaniel, Beverly Kopp and Vicki (Bill) Davis; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Allen Brick; brother, Paul Brick; and sisters, Maxine Page and Sylvia McCartney.
