John Blaine McDevitt, 64, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at Akron General Hospital, after a sudden illness. Born April 2, 1951 in Dennison, he was a son of Clara Mae (Ohler) McDevitt and the late John Robert McDevitt.
Blaine was a lifelong Twin City resident who will be remembered for his masterful auto body work, especially his restored Chevy trucks which were his passion. For many years, he was the owner and proprietor of John’s Auto Body and John’s Complete Home Repair until injuries sustained in an auto accident in 1999 prevented him from continuing his work. He took great pride in passing on his skills to his son and grandson who have carried on his work.
On September 9, 1972, Blaine married the former Karen S. McClintock who survives him at their home. He is also survived by a daughter, Francesca D. (Steven) Batten of Canton; son, John B. (Sandra Vogt) McDevitt II of Gnadenhutten; grandchildren, Wyatt and Madison Batten of Canton; siblings, Brian (Judith) McDevitt, Melody Smith, Lori Jones, and Daphne (Jeff) Brown; and many nieces and nephews, including Jeffy Brown to whom Blaine was especially close.
Services for Blaine, officiated by Pastor Jim McConnell, will be held at 1pm on Saturday, April 18, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in Sunset View Cemetery in Londonderry. Visitation will be for two hours prior to the funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
