John Arthur Baker

John Arthur Baker, 70, of Tuscarawas, passed away on Friday, October 14, 2016, at Union Hospital in Dover. Born May 28, 1946 in Dennison, he was a son of Lois Jaynee (Hanna) Baker and the late John William “Bill” Baker.

A lifelong area resident, John was a 1964 graduate of Uhrichsville High School. He retired from AK Steel in 1998 after over 33 years of employment and then spent more than ten years at Advance Auto in Dover. John was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing, skills that he shared with his sons and with Boy Scout Troop #461, and he was a member of the United Steelworkers. He was a longtime member of Roxford United Methodist Church.

On July 4, 1965, John married the former Rae Ann Hicks with whom he celebrated 51 years of loving marriage. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by 3 children, Jennifer (Baker) DeVault, Jason (Hallie) Baker, and John Baker; grandchildren, Whitney Jones Baker, Mikayla Baker, Seth DeVault, Alexandria Baker, and Nathan Baker; great-grandchildren, Ares Stull, Greyston Cox, and Maverick Cox; sister, Chris Thompson; nephews, Ben and Nathan Thompson; and mother-in-law, Pat Hicks.

Services, officiated by Pastor Ron Heasley, will be held at 11am on Tuesday, October 18, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison where visitation will be 5-8pm on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to Roxford United Methodist Church.
