Joe B. Carrothers, 75, of Candler, North Carolina, passed away at his home on May 12, 2021. Born May 19, 1945 in Dennison, Ohio, he was a son of the late Ralph B. and Thelma (Huston) Carrothers.
A resident of Candler for the past 40 years, Joe had grown up in Uhrichsville, Ohio where he attended Uhrichsville Schools and was later employed as a mechanic at the former City Auto. He retired from South Eastern Container, having been a Coca Cola truck driver with them for over 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and Busch Lite, as well as daily visits to Fatz Café in Asheville.
Joe will be deeply missed by his surviving family which includes his daughter, Kimberly Carrothers of Dover, Ohio; son, Kevin (Carrothers) Sutton of North Carolina; granddaughter, Keshia Sutton of Dover; special friend, Danielle Dadak of Candler, who was like a daughter to him; his first wife, Doris Sutton of Uhrichsville; and sister-in-law, Gloria Carrothers of Aurora, Ohio. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, John “Jack” and Thomas Carrothers.
According to Joe’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private, family graveside service will be held in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery where he will be interred. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
