Joanne Murphy, 82, of Uhrichsville, O., formerly of Bowerston, O., passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2009 at Akron General Hospital in Akron, O.

Born August 1, 1927 in Bowerston, she was a daughter of the late Fred Curtis and Hazel E. (Thompson) McKee.

Joanne made Bowerston her home for most of her life, was a graduate of Bowerston High School in the class of 1945 and was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Bowerston. She was also an associate member of Grace United Methodist Church in Uhrichsville while she lived there.

Joanne retired from the Charm Beauty Salon where she had been a beautician for many years. She was a former member of Orange Lodge #308 Order of Eastern Star and a volunteer at Twin City Hospital until her health prevented her.

Joanne’s surviving family includes two daughters, Mrs. Terrence E. (Debbie S.) Carrothers of Bowerston and Mrs. Robert L. (Rhonda J.) Allensworth of Coshocton; four grandchildren, Quentin Carrothers and his wife, Amanda, of Bowerston, Mrs. Robert (Annette) Siminski of Clarkston, Mich., Mrs. Ryan (Rochelle) Brindley of Estero, Fla., and Timothy Allensworth and his wife, Kelly, of Kure Beach, N.C.; eight great grandchildren, Tyler, Keaton, Joshua, Daniel, Gavin, Taylor, Ava, and Cole; a sister-in-law, Betty McKee of Akron; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by her brother, Fred C. “Curt Jr.” McKee, and her sister and brother-in-law, Jeanette and Joe Wizba.

A funeral service, officiated by Rev. John Johnson, will be held on Thursday, December 3, at 11:00 a.m. in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. According to Joanne’s wishes, interment will take place in Bowerston’s Longview Cemetery following cremation.

Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Those wishing to honor her memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Trinity United Methodist Church and the Twin City Hospital Foundation.
