Joanne M. Butler

Joanne Marie Butler, 77, of Uhrichsville, Ohio, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2012 at Union Hospital in Dover, Ohio after a lengthy illness. Born February 28, 1934 in Goshen, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Arthur D. and Nora (Page) Garrett.

Joanne was a lifelong resident of the area who had waitressed at a variety of local restaurants for over forty years. In her spare time, she loved to crochet, sew and go fishing.

On January 2, 1970, she married Robert D. Butler who survives her at their home. She is also survived by two sons, Ronald E. Gambs and his wife, Val, of Uhrichsville and Michael W. Gambs and his wife, Marla K., of New Philadelphia; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Dyer and her husband, Wayne, of Port Washington; and a number of nieces and nephews. She will also be sadly missed by her pup, Toto, whom she dearly loved. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Crystal Lynn Gambs; three brothers, Kenneth, Donald and Junior Garrett; and two grandchildren, Ralph E. Lippencott, Jr. and Tibis Gambs.

A graveside service, officiated by Pastor Tom Klaserner, will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1, at Ridgecrest Memory Gardens in Dover. In keeping with Joanne’s wishes, no public visitation is planned.
