Jerry Dan Miles

Jerry Dan Miles, 81, of Strasburg, passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at the Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia. Born July 22, 1937 in Dennison, he was a son of the late Raymond Edgar and Wanda V. (Lawver) Miles.

A 1955 graduate of Uhrichsville High School, Jerry was a lifelong resident of the area who served in the Army Reserves. He was employed by Miracle Adhesive for over 30 years, enjoyed bowling, and was an avid fisherman.

On December 25, 1982, he married Mildred C. (Abel) Miles with whom he looked forward to celebration 36 years of marriage. He is also survived by his children, Robert (Linda) Miles, Rhonda (Larry) Beans, Sheila (Paul) Donohoe and Sharon (Todd) James; stepchildren, Kitrenda (Terry) Walker, Myron (Sheila) Steffey and Joe (Sandy) Steffey; 14 grandchildren, April Miles, T.J., Troy, Jerrod and Jenna James, Victoria Miles, Ariel (fiancé, Kevin Kostelnik) Walker, Bryce (companion, Janie Sanders) Walker, Kelsie (Raymond) Shanefelt, Jordan and Jeremy Beans, Courtney Donohoe, Joey (companion, Kady Kozy) Steffey, Chanda (Nate) Bitecofer, William Steffey, and Eric Boris; 15 great-grandchildren, Hannah Miles, Ryian Phillips, Trenton, Lydia, and Brice Kostelnik, Mason Beans, Emma Shanefelt, Lilli, Noah, Faith, James, Nicole, Liam and Hope Bitecofer, Jace Steffey; siblings, Daryl (Diane) Miles, Ray (Joann) Miles, and Shirley Gowins; sister-in-law, Dorothy Miles; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Miles; grandchildren, Melissa Miles, Emily Martinelli, and Devin Walker; siblings, David Miles, Marjorie Risley, Terry Brady (his twin), and Joann Pettay; and brothers-in-law, Herb Risley, William Gowins, William Pettay, and George Brady.

Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 19, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Ave. S.W., New Philadelphia, OH  44663.
