Jerry Lee McNealy, 72, of Dennison, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Ohio’s Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia, Ohio, following a lengthy illness. Born July 5, 1953 in Dennison, he was a son of the late George Roland and Freda Mary (Dauterman) McNealy.
Jerry was a 1971 graduate of Claymont High School who will be remembered as a sport stock driver at Midvale Speedway. He was an avid sports fan who loved watching NASCAR and following all of the Cleveland sports teams. Most of all, he loved working on things and was the sort of guy who was always sought out by others for his wisdom and insights on how to fix just about anything – be it on their cars or in their homes – and he was always happy to help anyone who asked.
Jerry’s first career was as a mill operator at Alsco in Gnadenhutten where he had worked over twenty years before retiring when the plant closed. He then went on to spend over twenty years at Dover Chemical in their maintenance department before his final retirement.
On March 1, 1973, Jerry married the former Debra K. Clouse who survives him at their home. He is also survived by their children, Scott T. McNealy and Monica K. (Jeff Stewart) McNealy, and grandchildren, Colton L. Glauser and Miley A. Stewart. Jerry’s siblings, George R. (Margaret) McNealy, Jr. and Mary Kay Wade; mother-in-law, Catherine Martinelli; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Cathy Clouse-Manin, Annette (Calvin) Currence, Michael (Linda) Clouse, and Carla (Kenny) Sherrets; and numerous nieces and nephews survive him, as well. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Cheryl Sue McNealy; brother-in-law, Daniel Wade; father-in-law, Earl Clouse, Jr.; and stepfather-in-law, James Martinelli.
Pastor Mike Travis will officiate a 1:00 p.m. funeral service on Monday, September 15, at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will be in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Jerry’s family will receive callers from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Charitable contributions honoring his memory may be made to Ohio’s Hospice Foundation, 716 Commercial Ave. S.W., New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
