Jerry A. Mcmannamy, Sr.

October 29, 1948 — February 4, 2021

Jerry A. McMannamy Sr., 72, passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2021, at Louis Stokes Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio, following a brief illness.  He was born on October 29, 1948 in Toledo, Ohio to Hazel Marie (Brown) and James A McMannamy Sr. who preceded him in death.

Jerry proudly served our country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.  After returning home, he drove truck over the road and worked as a diesel mechanic.  He retired from truck driving following a severe accident that left him permanently disabled.  Jerry was involved in the American Legion where he served in the color guard on Memorial Day and for many funerals.  Jerry volunteered for the Leesville Volunteer Fire Department.  He also spent time volunteering for both the Carroll county and Tuscarawas county genealogical societies where he put his carpentry skills to use building many book cases and cabinets.  His favorite volunteer work was doing things for the teams and groups that his children were involved in.  He was a loving husband and father who enjoyed passing on his knowledge of mechanics and woodworking to his children.

Jerry married his wife, Emma (Sell) McMannamy, on September 1, 1979. His wife survives him along with his children, Jerry Jr. (Sharon) McMannamy of West Jefferson, Ohio, Faith McMannamy of Leesville, Ohio, and Hope McMannamy of Charleston, West Virginia. Jerry is survived by a grandson, Conner McMannamy of West Jefferson, Ohio. He is also survived by one daughter, Patricia Minerd, from a previous marriage, along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, and two brothers, James and Roy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter from a previous marriage, Charie Urban, and a brother, Clyde.

According to Jerry’s wishes, Pastor Dwight Mason will officiate a private, family funeral before his interment in Leesville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions honoring his memory may be made to the Carroll or Tuscarawas County Genealogical Societies and the Conotton Valley High School Band.
