Jerall L. "Jerry" Jones, Sr.

Jerall Lee “Jerry” Jones, Sr., 68, of Dover, O., passed away at Beacon Pointe Rehabilitation Center in Uhrichsville, O. on Monday, April 18, 2011 after a sudden illness. Born June 14, 1942 in Chicago, Ill., he was a son of the late Louie and Luna (Ferguson) Jones.

Jerry had lived in Tuscarawas County for the past twenty years and had previously lived in Harrison County for ten years after moving from the Chicago area. He was employed by Prontour Co. in Dennison for a decade and had most recently worked at Permaglass Mesh for five years. He was a member of the V.F.W., the Dover Moose, Uhrichsville Eagles, and a variety of C.B. clubs, as well as being a former member of the Uhrichsville Moose. In his spare time he enjoyed refinishing furniture and doing macramé.

On October 9, 1963, he married the former Joan Theresa Hunt with whom he enjoyed over forty-five years of marriage until her passing on January 22, 2009. They are survived by a daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Jones and her companion, Skip, of Uhrichsville; three sons, Jerry Lee Jones of Midvale, Jerall L. Jones, Jr. and his wife, Tiffany, of Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, and John “Mike” Hilbert of Dennison; six grandchildren, Mike Hilbert Jr., Heather Hilbert, Mark Ziegert Jr., Eric Ziegert, Bradley Jones, and Levi Hilbert; and six great grandchildren, Caiden, Makenzie, Cheyenne, Brooklyn, Landon, and Zoey; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The last of his generation, Jerry was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim and Everett Jones, and two sisters, Barb Klisnick and Phyllis Paris, in addition to his parents and wife.

In keeping with Jerry’s wishes, he has been cremated without a public visitation or service. He will be interred with his parents and siblings in Chicago. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his family in care of the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home, Inc., 26 Grant St., Dennison, OH 44621-1269, to help defray the cost of his final expenses.
