Jenny K. Tristano

August 19, 1926 — November 11, 2009

Jenny (Torch) Tristano, 83, of New Philadelphia, O., died Wednesday, November 11, 2009, at Union Hospital in Dover, O., with her loving family by her side.

She was born August 19, 1926 at her family’s home in Dennison to the late James Vincent and Josephine Rose (Fabiano) Torch.

A lifelong resident of the area, Jenny grew up in the Twin City area and was a graduate of Dennison High School in the class of 1946. In the 1950’s she and her family moved to New Philadelphia where she has made her home since.

Jenny’s surviving family includes her husband of over fifty years, James Tristano, Sr.; a son, James Tristano, Jr. and his wife, Nancy, of New Philadelphia; a daughter, Darlene Jo Lahm and her husband, Rick, of New Philadelphia; three grandchildren, Travis J. Tristano and his fiancée, Tanya, Christopher Lahm and Joshua P. Tristano; great grandchildren, Xander, Lilly, Kwynn, Brady and Ella; a brother, James Torch and his wife, Dora; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Jenny was preceded in death by her sisters, Rose C. Rees, Mary F. Smith, Josephine R. Menapace and Grace Jackson; and brothers, Guy J., Frank P. and Thomas Torch.

Prior to her marriage, Jenny worked for the Scio Pottery for a number of years, and later in life had worked at Bassetti’s Restaurant. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in New Philadelphia where she enjoyed attending their Senior Citizens meetings until her health prevented it. She also loved to play bingo and spend time in the kitchen. Above and beyond all, she adored spending time with her family, especially during the holidays.

Jenny’s actions always spoke louder than words. Her random acts of kindness guided her life and all others near her. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and nurturing grandmother.

Services for Jenny, officiated by Father Anthony Lonzo, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 14, in Immaculate Conception Church at Dennison. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison.

Family and friends are invited to call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Those wishing to honor Jenny’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the American Cancer Society and Hospice of Tuscarawas County.
