Jenny J. (Granato) Leonard, 95, of Dover, O., a former resident of Shadyside, O. for forty years, passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at Country Club Retirement Center in Dover, following a period of declining health.
Born in New York, N.Y. on February 15, 1913, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Carmella (Cutrepe) Granato.
On April 8, 1959, Jenny married James E. Leonard who preceded her in death on March 8, 1995. She is also preceded in death by three brothers, Dominic, Joseph and Pete Granato; three sisters, Hazel Granato, Rose Bennett and Sarah Granville; and two infant siblings, Ida and Ross Granato.
Her surviving family includes a brother, Sam Granato and his wife, Anne, of Uhrichsville; a sister, Mary Pallas of New Philadelphia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jenny was a loving wife and homemaker, as well as a philanthropist who donated to many worthy charities throughout her life. She was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Shadyside, and had been a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison since her move to Tuscarawas County.
Services for Jenny, officiated by Father Martin J. Ralko, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 7, in Dennison’s Immaculate Conception Church. Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Bellaire, O.
Family and friends are invited to call at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison on Friday morning, beginning at 9:00 a.m. and continuing until the procession leaves for the church, shortly before 10:00 a.m. Those wishing to honor Jenny’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Immaculate Conception Church’s Capital Campaign.
