Jeannine Ree Polen, 91, of New Philadelphia, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Park Village Health Care Center in Dover, Ohio, following a long decline in health. Born May 26, 1934 in Dennison, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Ray Eugene and Leatha V. (Lee) Wineman.
Jeannine grew up in the Twin City area and had many fond memories of her time at Dennison High School, having been the head majorette for three years until her graduation in 1952. In addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker, Jeannine worked at the A&W Root Beer Stand in her younger years, also spent time employed at Kmart, and finally was a consultant at Fashion Bug. Her true passion was her family, and her happiest times were spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughters.
She will be deeply missed by her children, Chevelle (Ed) Swartz, Jenese (Mike) Weaver, and Fred (Dodi) Daley; grandchildren, Megan, Brandon, Michael (Jelissa), and Carlee; great-granddaughters, Natalia and Liliana; brother, Richard Wineman; and many nieces and nephews. On May 7, 1998, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Earl Polen to whom she was married on November 13, 1982. Jeannine’s sister, Leatrice Wineman, and brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray (Patricia) Wineman Jr. and Duane E. (Herta) Wineman, also predeceased her, as well as their parents.
Rev. Dennis G. Rohn will officiate a 1:00 p.m. funeral on Friday, July 11, at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison where her family will receive callers from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, prior to the service. She will be interred in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery beside her beloved husband. Charitable contributions honoring Jeannine’s memory may be made to the DAV (Disabled American Veterans).
