Janice R. Mulheman Remley

Janice R. Mulheman Remley, 78, of Uhrichsville, O., passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at Aultman Hospital in Canton, O., following a lengthy illness.

Born December 21, 1930 in Uhrichsville, she was a daughter of the late Reese Bradley and Dora A. (Bacca) Bradley Young.

Janice grew up in Uhrichsville and was a graduate of Uhrichsville High School in the class of 1948 where she had enjoyed being a cheerleader.

On October 28, 1950, Janice married James E. Mulheman with whom she enjoyed over twenty years of marriage until his passing on June 26, 1971. They are survived by three children, Sharyn Henry of Buckeye Lake and her fiancé, Robert Avery, Ron Mulheman and his wife, Kimberly, of Uhrichsville, and Jill Art and her husband, John, of Newcomerstown; nine grandchildren, Terra Frye, Kimberly Henry, Drew Henry, James Mulheman, Jarrod Mulheman, Ron Mulheman II, Dennelle Thursby, Leigha Thursby and Jarrett Art; and eight great grandchildren. They were preceded in death by an infant son and infant daughter, Tommy and Rhonda Mulheman.

Janice was also preceded in death by her second husband, John L. Remley, Jr. to whom she was married on December 16, 1972. He died on May 2, 2004. She is survived by his sons, Michael L. “Mike” Remley and his wife, Nan, of Savannah, Ga. and John S. “Steve” Remley and his wife, Donna, of Kentucky, as well as several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

Her brother, Jack Bradley, preceded her in death along with a nephew, Vincent Bradley. She has a nephew, Jason Bradley, and a niece, Amy Bradley, who survive. In addition to her family, Janice will be missed by her lifelong friends, Peggy and Jerry Knight, and Larry and Sue McConnell.

A resident of the Silver Springs, Fla. area for over fifteen years, Janice lived in the Twin City area for most of her life. In addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, she had waitressed at a number of local restaurants, including Boltz’s, Newhart’s and The Unicorn. She had also operated a vending business, J.M. Enterprises, with her late husband, as well as making word search puzzles for the nationally published Penny Press.

Janice lived life to its fullest and had many interests. She especially enjoyed reading and loved to study and discuss politics. She also loved to go to Wheeling to enjoy games of chance and had enjoyed skating in her youth.

In keeping with Janice’s wishes, she will be cremated without a public visitation or service. Interment will be in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Those wishing to honor her memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, in lieu of flowers.
