Jane (Ashbaugh) Rose

Jane (Ashbaugh) Rose, 90, of West Seneca, New York, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2013. Born February 20, 1923 in New Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Earl F. and Beula S. (Whitmer) Ashbaugh.

For 67 years, Jane was the devoted wife of Lloyd M. Rose who survives her. She was also the loving mother of David E. (Mary) Rose and grandmother of Morgan Charlene Rose. Other surviving family includes her brother, Karr F. “Bud” (Audrey) Ashbaugh of New Philadelphia, and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant sister, Helen Ashbaugh.

A resident of Tuscarawas County throughout her younger years, Jane was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School in the class of 1940 and had been a member of South Broadway United Methodist Church. She was a former employee of Harris Jewelry Co. and later of the former Joy Manufacturing Co. where she was a secretary. Jane loved gardening, flowers, sewing, knitting and crocheting. She also enjoyed attending Army reunions with her husband, Lloyd, and meeting his friends from World War II. She was the primary hostess to a Tuscarawas County Army reunion for the 217th F.A. Bn., 44th Infantry Division. She and Lloyd moved to the Buffalo, New York area in 1964.

Services for Jane, officiated by Rev. Fred A. Schmidt, Jr., will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will be in Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday. Those wishing to honor Jane’s memory are encouraged to do so by a memorial contribution to the charity of their choice.
