James Timothy Still, known by many as Tim, 73, of Dennison, passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2022, at the Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia, following a period of declining health. Born March 31, 1949 in Dennison, he was a son of the late Herbert Francis and Elizabeth Jane (Cox) Still.

Tim was a resident of Tuscarawas County throughout his life with the exception of the years that he served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1969 to 1972, followed by many years with the U.S. Naval Reserves. He had a long career, spanning over 30 years, at Greer Steel. A devout Catholic throughout his life, he was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison and Sacred Heart Church in New Philadelphia, and he was a 1967 graduate of St. Mary’s High School. Tim served his community as the Mayor of Dennison for multiple terms and by serving on the board of the Dennison Railroad Depot Museum. He was fiercely proud of his town, loved supporting local small businesses, and did all he could for the advancement of the village.

He was a 4 th Degree Knight of Columbus, a member of the Dennison American Italian Club, and enjoyed membership in a number of the Twin City area social clubs where he would spend time with his many friends. He was an avid sports enthusiast who especially loved the Cleveland Browns. Most of all, he treasured his family and the time he had with his grandchildren.

Tim will be deeply missed by his surviving family which includes his daughter, Jennifer (Tom) Hostetler; son, Ryan (Kayleigh) Still; grandchildren, Drew Hostetler, Brennen Hostetler, and Ruby Still; brother, Richard Still; sister, Ann Persensky; nieces, Bridget Parsons, Amy Still, and Kristen Lukas; former spouse, Susan Banker; and a large extended family.

Father Jeff Coning will celebrate the funeral Mass on Friday, July 15, at 10:00 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, preceded by a 9:45 a.m. Rosary service. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Church, Immaculate Conception Elementary, Community Hospice, and the Dennison Railroad Depot Museum.
