James R. “Spot” Fulton, 64, of New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully at his home on February 18, 2011. Spot was born January 19, 1947 at Macon Co., NC to John Robert and Grace Higdon Fulton. Shortly after his birth, Spot moved to the Isle of Arran, Scotland where he was raised before returning to the United States during his high school years Spot served in the Vietnam War.
Spot worked as a nurse for most of his life in various areas throughout the U.S. Spot was very involved in competitive shooting and primitive weaponry, having been a member of the Tusco Rifle Club, B and A Primitive Weapons Club, and the Widowmakers.
In 1990, Spot married Nancy C. (Culler) Fulton, who survives him at their home. In addition to his wife and parents, Spot’s surviving family includes many adopted brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, and friends.
Spot was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mac Fulton and Granny Marion Holt.
According to his wishes, Spot will be cremated with no viewing or visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Those wishing to honor Spot with a memorial contribution are encouraged to do so to the National Muzzle Loading Rifleman’s Association.
