James H. Scott

James Howard Scott, 63, of New Philadelphia, passed away at his home on Saturday, May 7, 2022. Born September 20, 1958 in Dennison, he was a son of Roy Dale “Jim” Scott of New Philadelphia and the late Mary Ella (Murphy) Scott.

Jimmy grew up in the Twin City area and was a 1977 graduate of Claymont High School. He was the owner of Scottie’s Auto Mart for many years and had, most recently, been a salesman at Parkway Nissan in Dover. He was a much-loved mentor in local youth sports programs, having coached countless Pee Wee football, baseball, and basketball teams, both while his sons played and after they had grown up. He was also a high school basketball referee for 15 years.

On June 15, 1985, Jimmy married the former Cynthia K. “Cindy” Lorenz who survives him along with their sons, Brandon (Cicely), Brad, and Cody Scott; his father, Jim Scott; sisters, Vonne (Tom) Cahaney and Melinda (Brian) Maxwell; brother, Jeffrey Scott; many nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Jimmy’s wishes, cremation is planned without a public service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice.
