James Dean Romig, 84, of New Philadelphia, passed away at his home on Sunday, October 28, 2018. Born April 5, 1934 in Dennison, he was a son of the late Jesse Clifford and Marie Agnes (Miller) Romig. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and a retired nursing home administrator. He was Pentecostal by faith.
On January 14, 1961, he married the former Betty Marcella Morrison with whom he enjoyed 43 years of marriage until her passing on June 6, 2004. He is survived by his daughters, Penny (William) Dreher, Terri Romig, Gretchen Romig and Karen (Jack) Mardis; grandchildren, Monica Dreher, Chris Dreher, Rita Schwieters, James Schwieters, Sarah Collin, Penny Thompson, Paul Schwieters, Autumn Schwieters, Jack Mardis and Marcus Mardis; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda Rox-Ann Romig, brothers, Thomas Romig, Dick Romig and Wilkey Romig and a great grandson, Christopher Thomas Lowell Dreher.
According to Jim’s wishes, cremation is planned without a public visitation. A private, family service is planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his family in care of the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home, Inc., 26 Grant St., Dennison, OH 44621-1269, to help defray the cost of his final expenses.
