James R. Williams

James Roland “Buck” Williams, 65, of Uhrichsville, O., passed away on Friday, March 19, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in Canton, O., following a lengthy illness.

Born October 2, 1944 in Dennison, O., he was a son of the late James Edward and Margaret Helen (Kauffman) Williams.

A lifelong resident of the Twin City area, with the exception of the years that he spent in the service of his country with the U. S. Army, he was a graduate of Dennison High School in the class of 1963. He retired from Alsco in Gnadenhutten after twenty-three years of employment.

Buck married the former Shirley Ann Turney, who survives him, on August 19, 1967 and enjoyed over forty-three years of marriage with her. He is also survived by three sons, J.R. Williams and his wife, Stephanie of Dumfries, Va., and Jeff and Justin Williams, both of Akron; three grandchildren, Nathan, Emili, and A.J. Williams; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Buck was preceded in death by four sisters, Margretta, Gloria Jean, Ina Myers, and Carol Cebula.

Buck was a devoted husband and father who spent many happy times attending his children’s sporting events and enjoying his grandchildren. In his spare time he also enjoyed woodworking, fishing and going to classic car shows.

Services for Buck, officiated by Pastor Scot Caley and Rev. James A. Huston, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 24, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
