James L. Milburn

James L. “Jim” Milburn, 84, of 7165 Deersville Avenue Ext. SE Uhrichsville, died at his home on Monday, November 3, 2014, after courageously battling cancer for over a year. Born November 26, 1929 in Uhrichsville, he was a son of the late Frank and Mildred (Fiester) Milburn.

A lifelong resident of Uhrichsville, Jim attended Uhrichsville High School and served his country in the United States Army before beginning his lifelong career as a truck driver, retiring after over 40 years. He loved hunting (especially coon hunting) and working on vehicles as he was very mechanically inclined. Jim was a fan of the Browns, Indians, Buckeyes, and Cavs and was a member of Teamsters Union Local 92 in Canton, Ohio.

On December 20, 1950, Jim married the former Barbara Jean Thompson with whom he looked forward to celebrating 64 years of marriage. He is also survived by sons: Gary L. (Nadine) Milburn of Uhrichsville, Duane A. Milburn of Dennison, and Ken W. Milburn. Sr. of Uhrichsville; grandchildren: Gary (Jill), Cathy, Duane “D.J.” (Heather), Troy (Nikki), Ken W., II (Missy), Shawn, and James “J.R.” Milburn; great-grandchildren: Kaitlin, Rylee, Carson, Rylan, Brady, Lilly, and Ellie; siblings: Jerry (Karen) Milburn of New Philadelphia, Ron (Lynn) Milburn of Tappan, Charles Milburn of Lock 17, Janet (Ron) Butcher of Zanesville, Irene Hodkinson of Freeport, and Kay Cerana of Dennison; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Frank and Bobby Milburn.

In keeping with Jim’s wishes, he has been cremated without a public visitation. A memorial service is planned for a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice.
