James A. Albaugh, Sr., 68, of Uhrichsville, died suddenly on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at Union Hospital in Dover. Born January 26, 1944 in Dover, he was a son of the late Clayton M. and Catherine L. (Schneider) Albaugh.

Jim was a graduate of Midvale High School in the class of 1962 before enlisting in the U.S. Navy and serving his country in the Vietnam War until 1968. Upon returning home from the service, he married the former Sandra K. Elerick with whom he was looking forward to celebrating their forty-fifth wedding anniversary on November 20. A retiree of the Timken Co. in Canton after thirty years of employment, he loved going fishing and riding motorcycles, and in his younger years he enjoyed hunting. He was an avid sports fan, especially of the New York Yankees and the Oakland Raiders.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by their son, James A. Albaugh, Jr. and his wife, Shannan, of Uhrichsville; grandchildren, Leighanna, Lauren and Christopher; great-grandchildren, Gabriella, Lake, Lillian and Klayton; a sister, Genevieve Peterman and her husband, Paul, of Tuscarawas; many in-laws; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

According to Jim’s wishes, he has been cremated without a public visitation or service. Those wishing to honor his memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the American Diabetes Association.
