Jack Lee Tinney, Sr.

Jack Lee Tinney, Sr., 66, of Dennison, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at his home. Born May 29, 1951 in Dennison, he was a son of the late James Martin and Mildred Pauline (Turney) Tinney. Jack was a 1969 graduate of Conotton Valley High School before beginning his long career as an auger operator for Valley Mining where he was employed for 35 years.

On May 29, 1971, Jack married the former Linda Lee Whitacre. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda; son, Jack L. Tinney, Jr.; and granddaughter who was like a daughter, Heather (Brian) Burdette, who were his devoted caregivers through his final illness. He is also survived by a daughter, Grace Tinney; 6 more grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Janet Gates and Anna Mae (Jerry) Hines; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Earl M. Tinney.

Services, officiated by David Markley, will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, February 5, at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison where his family will receive callers for an hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his family in care of the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home to help defray the cost of his final expenses.
