Jack A. Gold, 81, of New Philadelphia, passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Community Hospice House in New Philadelphia after a short illness. Born May 9, 1931 in Uhrichsville, he was a son of the late Wallace Adrian and Hazel Lucille (Cecil) Gold.

A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Jack served during the Korean War. He was a longtime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the New Philadelphia AmVets. After working for the former Warner and Swasey Co. for a number of years, Jack worked for the New Philadelphia school system until his retirement in the mid 90’s. In his spare time, he loved gardening and caring for his yard and home, and he was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns, Indians and Cavaliers, as well as the Ohio State Buckeyes. He attended Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison.

Jack is survived by his fiancée, Nancy A. Eberly of New Philadelphia; children, Cheryl Hylton of Baltic, Jeff (Mary) Gold of New Philadelphia and Luanne (Lee) Ruth of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Bobby, Jason, Sonny, Nancy and Ethan Hylton, Silver Ann and Sean Gold, and Ryan Ruth; great-grandchildren, Dominic Gold Lewis, Sonny Hylton Jr., Azalynn Hylton, Kayli Hylton, Dominic Devore, Kali Douglas, Gage Douglas, and Candace Hylton; siblings, Janet (Robert) Carr-his twin, Wallace (Judy) Gold, Donald Gold, and Suzi (Harry) Heavilin; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Burdette.

In keeping with Jack’s wishes, he has been cremated without a public visitation. A graveside service, officiated by Minister Tim Hatfield, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 11, in Calvary Cemetery in New Philadelphia. Those wishing to honor Jack’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Ave. S.W, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
